The women’s archery team of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS) has once again demonstrated its sporting excellence by standing out in the recent edition of the UAS 2024 Regional Universiade, which is currently being held in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa .

The students Grecia González Talamantes and Viviana Paulina Díaz Gudiño, representatives of the UABCS, won first and third place, respectively, in the Archery category, during this high-level competition coordinated by the National Sports Council of the Education (CONDDE).

Their outstanding performances not only earned them recognition at the regional level, but also granted them the privilege of qualifying for the National Olympiad for the second consecutive year.

“We are enormously proud of the performance of our athletes, who have demonstrated their dedication, talent and perseverance in every arrow they have shot,” said the head of the Department of Sports and Recreational Activities of the UABCS, Mtro. Hermes Amao Montoya, highlighting that this success is the result of the hard work and constant preparation they have carried out together with their team of coaches.

On behalf of the rector Dante Salgado González, he recognized this enormous achievement and also expressed the institutional pride of having athletes of the stature of Grecia and Viviana, whose commitment to sporting excellence, studies and representing their alma mater with dignity is an example for the entire university community.

He pointed out that this victory is only the beginning of a path that they must follow towards the National Olympiad, “where we trust that both will continue to raise the name of the UABCS,” added the university official.
