Two teams, five Czechs. Leverkusen and West Ham will meet in the quarter-finals of the Europa League

Already after the draw, it was clear that from the Czech point of view, this is a very spicy couple. Goalkeeper Matěj Kovář and forwards Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek will start for Leverkusen, which is undefeated in all competitions this season. While Kovář can be expected to start in Thursday’s race and in the case of Schick it depends on the chosen strategy, it is clear that Hložka will not appear on the field due to an injury.

The Bundesliga leaders can claim their first ever German title this weekend. But now he has to fully concentrate on the Europa League. It will welcome the winners of last year’s Conference League and currently the seventh Premier League team West Ham in the lineup with Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal.

Sport.cz editor Michal Nussbauer is also looking forward to the Czech players, who will watch the match directly in the BayArena.

How many of them will play in the final is still a mystery. Thanks to the draw, it is certain that domestic football will have a representative in the semi-finals of the second most prestigious club continental competition.

Of course, other quarter-final duels are also being played. AC Milan, the conqueror of Slavia from the round of 16, will meet AS Roma in the Italian showdown. Liverpool, who knocked out Sparta in the last round, host Atalanta. The last pair is then Benfica and Marseille. The second leg is played next week on Thursday.
