Two FC Bayern Munich stars are apparently on the crosslist

If Julian Nagelsmann becomes the new coach of FC Bayern Munich, the future of two FCB stars at the club will probably look bad.

As Sport Bild reports, Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka could fall victim to a second term in office for the current national coach at the German record champions. Specifically, Bayern’s squad is to be realigned in order to give Nagelsmann the opportunity to better implement his playing philosophy at a second attempt.

Gnabry and Goretzka recently no longer played a role in the national team under the 36-year-old. Nagelsmann was not called up to the German squad for the international matches against France and the Netherlands, and it will also be difficult for both of them to take part in the European Championship.

Both FCB professionals have a contract in Munich that is valid until 2026. While Gnabry missed large parts of the season due to injuries, Goretzka had to line up behind Aleksandar Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich in central midfield. It was only when the latter was moved to the right-back position by coach Thomas Tuchel that Goretzka started playing more regularly again.

Nagelsmann is considered the big favorite to succeed Tuchel, who will leave the club at the end of the season. There are said to have already been discussions between the 36-year-old and those responsible at Bayern. A decision regarding the new coach should be made in April.
