Students and alumni contributed to the Japanese team winning the 1st World Deaf Baseball Tournament

The “1st Deaf Baseball Tournament” was held in Taiwan from Saturday, February 24, 2024 to Friday, March 1, 2024. From our university, Otoyasu Takanashi (second year, Department of Industrial Information Studies) from the baseball club participated as a representative from Japan. Among the alumni, Tsubasa Kamiya (18th class student at the University of Technology) also participated.

Mr. Takanashi contributed to the Japanese team as a third baseman and Mr. Kamiya as a catcher. They advanced through the qualifying league with all wins, and also won all the finals (Japan, Taiwan, America), winning the championship.

Baseball is not an official sport at the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, which will be held next year, but it helped spread Japan’s name around the world. I hope you will continue to do your best.
