Travis d’Arnaud Hits Three Home Runs, Leads Braves to Victory Over Rangers

Travis d’Arnaud hit his first three home runs of the season, including a grand slam that gave the Braves the lead in the sixth inning, and Atlanta beat the Texas Rangers 8-3 on Friday night.

The 35-year-old veteran hit his first home run of the game in the second inning to give the Braves a 2-1 lead.

The catcher slammed a second in the bottom of the fifth inning to add to Atlanta’s lead.

d’Arnaud put the exclamation point on a memorable night with a grand slam an inning later to make it 7-3 Braves. He thus completed his second career three-home run game with six RBIs.

Braves starter Chris Sale allowed five hits and three earned runs. He finished the game with seven strikeouts in as many innings of work.

It was a fifth straight victory for the Braves.
