The TriSalinetas, on Sunday in Telde, with 320 registered

The coast of Telde is preparing to host one of the most illustrious sporting events in the municipality next Sunday. We are referring to the TriSalinetas, the oldest test of triathlon in Gran Canaria and the second longest in the entire Archipelago. It has now reached its 31st edition and is doing so in top form, as in 2024 it breaks its own participation record with 320 triathletes in the different events included in the program.

The Telde event has managed to increase the number of registered participants by 20% compared to last year, involving people of all ages in this sport, from six to 70 years old.

The TriSalinetas, organized by the Canarian Triathlon Federation (Fecantri) and Top Time Events, and promoted by the Telde City Council and the Insular Sports Institute of the Cabildo, has been chosen as a regional classification test to participate in the Spanish Sprint Elite Championship, which will be held on June 15 and for which three men’s places are distributed and three female.

In addition, with the Telden event the calendar of the Canary Talent Series 2024 begins, a project that was born from Fecantri for the children, cadet and youth categories with the aim of promoting grassroots sport and seeking sporting excellence in the medium and long term. , and also being part of the Gran Canaria Games and the Rector Trophy.

The event starts at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday with the men’s Sprint start and five minutes later the women’s race starts. At 12:00 the test corresponding to the Canary Series Supersprint Talents, while at 12:45 p.m., in aquathlon format, it is the turn of the juvenile, junior and pre-benjamin categories.

The TriSalinetas has its nerve center on Salinetas Beach. The main test consists of a 750-meter swimming segment, a 20-kilometer cycling segment – ​​around the industrial estate – and a five-kilometer run.

The Super Sprint modality has 300 meters of swimming, 5.7 kilometers of cycling and two kilometers of running, with shorter distances for the youngest.

The facilities of Gran Canaria Arena hosted the official presentation, an event that was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Aridany Romero; the Telde Sports Councilor, Cristhian Santana; Pablo González, from the company Top Time Eventos, responsible for infrastructure and time taking; and Christian Martín, technical director of Fecantri.

Romero highlighted that this test meets the objective of reaching the 21 municipalities through sport, thanks to the close collaboration between administrations to “create an agenda of multidisciplinary events” throughout the Gran Canaria territory. For his part, Cristhian Santana pointed out that the TriSalinetas is “a consolidated event that is a reference, that goes beyond sport, as it helps local development with the presence of people coming from different points of the Islands and from the Peninsula.” .
