–From this selection tournament, a new standard bat was finally introduced. How will the long-running Mizuno/SSK metal bat “two-strong era” change? Mr. Hoshi has been paying attention to this point ever since the change in standards was decided, but has there actually been a change in the balance of power?
Tetsuya Hoshi (below, Hoshi)One answer has come out. I think players were still trying to figure out what to do from fall to winter, but this spring, at my store, bats from these two manufacturers, Zett and Easton, are selling overwhelmingly. There are several models of Z, but the product called Z Power is very popular. If there are 10 people, I’ll buy Zett or Easton bats for up to 8 people. In March, Easton was selling about one or two bottles per day. Easton doesn’t have any short-circuits in inventory, but Z-Power’s production can’t keep up and it runs out quickly. I received 20 bottles the other day, but they sold out in less than two weeks.
— Speaking of masterpieces from the old standard era, it was Mizuno’s V Kong series and SSK’s Skybeat series. Since it was a model that was all the rage, they all created successor models.
