The Gijón PSOE continued yesterday with its round of contacts to share with different groups its rehabilitation plan for El Molinón in order to keep the 2030 World Cup candidacy alive. José Ramón Tuero met with Jorge Guerrero, president of Aficiones Unidas and Federation of Peñas Sportinguistas, at the headquarters of the latter group, located in the Gijon municipal district. The socialist councilor shared the plans and guidelines of an operation valued at 30 million euros and which, according to the PSOE of Gijón, is economically viable and meets the demands of FIFA. “Everything that affects the good of the fan seems fine to us, but in our meeting we did not talk about numbers or their viability,” Guerrero said at the end of the meeting with José Ramón Tuero. The president of the Federation of Supporters Clubs wanted to share the desire and value of attracting a World Cup, while remembering that “I hope this does not mean mortgaging the City Council’s accounts either.”
