During last weekend, the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa experienced a considerable increase in passenger and vehicle traffic, coinciding with the end of Ramadan.

As sources from the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) have informed EFE, a total of 24,356 passengers and 5,093 ships have passed through the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa, both managed by the port entity, between Friday and Sunday. .

In detail, the port of Algeciras led the movement with a total of 8,156 passengers and 1,958 vehicles on the route to Tangier, and 8,802 passengers with 2,005 vehicles to Ceuta. On the other hand, the port of Tarifa also showed notable activity, registering 7,398 passengers and 1,130 vehicles in the same period.

This notable increase in the flow of people and vehicles is due to the celebration of the end of Ramadan, an event of great relevance on both sides of the Strait, where a significant community of Muslim faith resides. This situation replicated the typical traffic levels at the beginning of Operation Crossing the Strait (OPE).
