The playoff dream lives on!
The MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg won in the easycredit Basketball Bundesliga against the MLP Academics Heidelberg, are back after two bankruptcies in a row – and are hoarding important points in the fight for the post-season. In the second Saturday evening game, EWE Baskets Oldenburg beat their neighbors Rasta Vechta, a 45-minute drive away.

All eyes are on Ariel Hukporti (just turned 22), who is celebrating his BBL debut.
After four years abroad (Lithuania and Australia), the center colossus is back in Ludwigsburg. Last week he played in the Champions League against Murcia and had seven points and ten rebounds.
Now he wants more! Hukporti (born in Stralsund), who has just become Australian runner-up with Melbourne, before the game at Dyn: “I expect a lot more from myself. I didn’t have much training before the Champions League game. I’ve been training for a week now.”

Why Hukporti is playing again at Ludwigsburg, where he became NBBL MVP in 2020 and even played in the final tournament in the Bundesliga during the Corona season and became runner-up: “I came here to help. Whatever they need, I’ll do it. Normally I would be in America right now preparing for the draft. But I decided to stay here, play basketball with Ludwigsburg and refresh some memories.”
But his goal is clearly the NBA! Hukporti has registered for the draft, which will take place at the end of June.
The 2.13 meter center: “I think my chances are pretty good. I’m ready. I’m a little older than the others. I have more experience than the others. Hopefully I can play properly there and not just in the D-League. I would be looking forward to the next level.”
In the end, the new BBL star got seven points. His balance sheet can therefore be improved.
