The NBA’s Biggest Mouths: Who Takes the TrashTalk Award This Season?

The NBA is never the last to bring its share of verbal outbursts of all kinds between its different protagonists. And obviously, count on us to list them as often as possible, because without being too crude, we are fond of these muscular duels. So, who do you think is the biggest mouth of the moment?

The previous edition of the TrashTalk Award was won by Jalen Green who made us “a James Harden”.

Candidate #1: Bol Bol accuses referees of [censuré] Victor Wembanyama

The duel of the 2m20 tall men who run and shoot gave rise to a certain punchline from Bol Bol against Victor Wembanyama, during a meeting between Suns and Spurs. On an action, Wemby gets a whistle that Manute’s son would describe as “generous”, well that’s the uncensored version since the language of the Sudanese winger towards the French pivot is much more flowery, that requires no translation.

“D*ckriding bro. I get it.”

– Was Was. 😂😂

We’re not drawing you a picture either, but Bol Bol had it bad after conceding an “And 1” by the V, who could already have star treatment in his first year in the NBA. In any case, it is not to please his victim of the evening, his less strong version, his not strong version in fact, who made it clear to everyone, including the viewers.

Candidate #2: Stephen Curry entertains the Orlando public

Stephen Curry is holding his new signature celebration, to say the least. But if he uses it so often, it’s because he… often uses daggers, implacable logic. Its latest victims, the Orlando Magic, at home, in its Kia Center who had to endure the taunts of the leader after a winning shot which sent the Floridians to sleep, despite the defense of Jalen Suggs.

A perfect view to see Curry turn out the lights and put the kids to bed, this 3-point shot sealed his team’s 101-93 victory. And obviously, the Dubs fans who were courtside at Mickey’s enjoyed it like crazy. The Magic will console themselves today with a direct qualification for the Playoffs, for which the Warriors will still have to battle in the play-in.

Candidate #3: Luka Doncic pays for the Kings

The Draft of Marvin Bagley by the Kings in 2018 still has the appearance of PTSD in Sacramento, even if the franchise is doing much better today and has even become competitive again. However, Luka Doncic, who seemed destined for this place, did not forget and took it upon himself to remind Vlade Divac, present at the edge of the floor, who himself chose to ignore the Slovenian.

And come on, we’re back to this bullshit 6 years later…

All this after killing the game with free throws and after sending 26 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists into the gums of his former future franchise. Luka Doncic holds a grudge against the Kings and lets them never forget this mistake, it goes without saying.

Candidate #4: Tari Eason tries to silence the Warriors… but is caught up in reality

Attempting trashtalking is good, attempting silent trashtalking via a provocative t-shirt, frankly, we agree, but when there is defeat behind it, it is immediately less cheerful. Tari Eason had the bitter experience against the Warriors, in a decisive match for the play-in. The Texans were playing for survival against their main direct competitor for… 10th place, and Tari Eason saw fit to show up with an unambiguous t-shirt.

“Waaaaaariors. Come out and plaaaaaaay.” — Gary Payton II heading into the locker room.

— Kelly Iko (@KellyIko) April 5, 2024

“Warriors, come and play”, was that the message? Because it was obviously heard, Golden State played, and beat the Rockets 105 to 96, the famous double count matches as they say in the jargon. In any case, it amused Gary Payton II who had fun shouting this slogan while returning to the locker room, as if to say that the job, at least this job, was done.

Candidate #5: Victor Wembanyama intimidates players who dare to compete against him

We have all seen this lunar sequence where the 3 Grizzlies players on the counterattack, alone facing Victor Wembanyama, refuse to attack him under the boards and prefer to take a shot from the parking lot. This is the level of dictatorship established by Wemby under the panels. But according to GG Jackson, this would be accompanied by a few gentle whispers to his opponents, just to make them sick of life.

“He’s so high in the air. When he talks trash, he sounds like he’s whispering. He was like, ‘Go back up. Go. Go. You scared. You scared. You scared.’ ” – GG Jackson on Wemby’s trash talking pic.twitter.com/TgR6M9nDQB

“It goes so high in the air. When he trashtalks, it seems like he’s whispering things like “Come on! You are scared ? You are scared ! You are scared !”

Wemby who released the sulphates and punchlines in his rookie season, while being aware of his incredible deterrent force in defense. So this kid has no flaws?

Bonus candidate: Dillon Brooks savors Luka Doncic after technical foul

A TrashTalk Award edition without Dillon Brooks isn’t a real TrashTalk Award edition anywhere. Friend Dillon took advantage of a Texan derby to take the piss out of Luka Doncic, who seemed to be complaining too much for his taste, and that of the referees since he was penalized with a technical foul after celebrating a kick. whistle in favor of his Mavs.

A smiley applause for Dillon Brooks, already happy to lead 41 to 25 against his neighbor, and Luka Doncic who laughs, as usual, after a whistle that he does not consider correct. Well at least everyone is laughing, it’s a good atmosphere. The district basketball that we love.
