The memorandum of understanding between the Lombardy Region and the Lombardy Regional Committee LND was signed

It was a great day for all of Lombardy amateur football and for its immense social value. In fact, the memorandum of understanding between the Lombardy Region and the Lombardy Regional Committee of the National Amateur League was signed on Monday 15 April. The signing took place during the press conference held at 12.30 pm in the Press Room of Palazzo Lombardia in Milan.

The protocol is aimed at creating common synergies in the valorisation of assets linked to the world of sport and in particular in promoting and developing the regional amateur football sports culture. All this will also be possible through specific initiatives aimed at promoting integration and inclusion through sport, with a view to a coordinated and shared path.

The collaboration will also aim to highlight the Olympic and sporting values, with a particular focus on the sporting and tourist growth of the Lombardy region. A synergy that arises in a context of accompanying the path towards the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Undersecretary with responsibility for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region and Sergio Pedrazzini, President of the FIGC-LND Lombardy Regional Committee, spoke during the press conference. The signing of the agreement follows the meeting held on 8 April when the CRL leaders met the President of the Lombardy Region and the Undersecretary.

The importance of this protocol also lies in the large numbers of the Lombardy LND Regional Committee which organizes and promotes football competitions at regional and provincial level through 13 Provincial/District Delegations.

The Lombardy Regional Committee is the largest territorial organization of the National Amateur League with approximately 1350 clubs and 180 thousand registered footballers. Added to these are approximately 40 thousand registered managers and technicians.

At the end of the conference, the Board of Directors of the Lombardy Regional Committee honored the Undersecretary with a personalized shirt of the Lombard representative team, champions of Italy.

Undersecretary with responsibility for Sport and Youth of the Lombardy Region: “This document marks the collaboration with a system that has 1,350 clubs in Lombardy, 180,000 members, 40,000 members including managers and technicians and 48,000 organized competitions. Important numbers highlighted by the recent victories in the Italian under 17 and women’s championships. Demonstrating that sport is not about gender but about the quality of men and women capable of best expressing their sporting path. Sport is in fact that discipline that will help us to be more convincing in a path of aggregation and inclusion, also in view of the next Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina 2026. For this reason we want to develop initiatives to ensure that the discipline of sport can also become a discipline for parents who too often see sport as a social lift and not pride and passion for the team and for sport. This agreement therefore aims to reinforce this opportunity for growth and inclusion also included in the European Community’s white paper”.

Sergio Pedrazzini, President of the FIGC-LND Lombardy Regional Committee: “Reasoning about our complexity and doing it alongside the highest regional office at a sporting level is a source of pride. We all worked hard to run fast and reach the finish line that this protocol represents. We believe we are an important part of the social activity of our country. A movement that needs to be credible and that is sometimes contaminated by a few subjects, those who do not respect the three stages of education of the child. This protocol places us alongside the Lombardy Region for events that go in the direction of education, of experiencing sport from a competitive point of view, but also with the ability to be people who know how to know moments of respect and aggregation . We are happy to sign the protocol and we are sure that by following this speed, the synergy will continue at the same speed. I thank you for the memory of Carlo Tavecchio, we all start from there, from the Board of Directors chosen by him”.
