L’Allemand also described how he did his cycling tour through Limburg in several stages. “Were his multi-day tours through Limburg an inspiration for developing the Tour de France? After all, Rik was friends with Géo Lefèvre, the inventor of the Tour de France. It is a stimulating thought,” says Philtjens. “Rik should not be missing at the European Cycling Championships, this autumn in Limburg. With an exhibition and street art, tribute will be paid to the founder of cycling in Limburg.”
