The 35-year-old power forward was never able to crown this with an NBA title. Nevertheless, at least at times he was one of the best players of his time.

Griffin, who went to the Los Angeles Clippers as the number 1 pick in the 2009 draft, was named to the All-Star team six times. In 2014, after his best season, he was only beaten by LeBron James and Kevin Durant in the MVP vote.

With his Clippers he failed three times in the playoff semifinals of the Western Conference. Nevertheless, he shaped an era together with point guard Chris Paul and center DeAndre Jordan.

His spectacular trademark from the start was his smashing dunks. In the 2010/11 season he won the Slam Dunk Contest by jumping over a car.

Griffin and Paul turned the Clippers into “Lob City”

The spectacular alley-oops between Paul and him even gave the Clippers the nickname “Lob City”.

In 2018 he was surprisingly traded to the Detroit Pistons after he had recently signed a monster contract worth $171 million for five years with the Clippers.

However, he was unable to build on his strong performances in LA with either the Pistons or the Brooklyn Nets, where he was transferred via a buyout in the 2020/21 season.

The Boston Celtics last signed him two years ago. After he was used there in at least half the games in the first season, he was completely left out of the current season.
