The Civil Guard considers “of urgent need“check if the former FC Barcelona player Gerard Piqué gave “gifts” to the former president of the RFEF Luis Rubiales“or other directors” of the Federation for the “negotiation” to move the Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.
Last September, the armed institute asked the judge investigating this Super Cup contract and others linked to the RFEF to send another rogatory commission to Andorra to request information on the “full traceability of funds received by Kosmos”, company managed by the former Blaugrana player.
The magistrate already requested judicial assistance from the authorities of the Principality in October 2022 in search of details about an FC Andorra bank account -mostly owned by Piqué- in the Mora Banc entity.
The investigators wanted to know the destination of the funds in a Kosmos account in which “success commissions paid” by Sela would have been charged -Saudi public company- (4 million per year) for mediating the negotiations with the Spanish Football Federation to move the Super Cup there.
However, the agents consider that in order to carry out complete traceability of the funds it is necessary to have all the accounts in which there are direct or indirect money movements with the account receiving Sela payments, according to one of the reports in the summary, to which EFE has had access.
FC Andorra account
The Civil Guard indicates in its letter that between June 2019 and March 2022 An FC Andorra account received 3.4 million euros coming from the Kosmos account in which the “commissions” from the Saudi company were received, and specifies that the “amount transferred to the club” is “more than a quarter of the income received from the Saudi company.”
Once the Civil Guard already has in its possession the banking movements of the accounts located in Spain, sees it necessary for the judge to send a new rogatory commission to request from Mora Banc more information about the accounts from 2019 to today “with the highest level of detail possible.”
He also asks to locate Piqué’s account.”payment issuer” of two million euros to another Spanish one in February 2021 and identify other accounts in which he, FC Andorra or his companies appear, also since 2019.
In the letter where these requests are made, the agents highlight the “big flow of money“between accounts of the Kosmos group, Piqué and those around him, and they highlight that 90% of the outflows of funds from the account receiving payments from the Saudi public company “are destined for accounts of the same group or linked to it” .
They also highlight “the high value of the bank accounts” of the Kosmos group and do not rule out that, “if these possible gifts existed, with the aim of hindering the direct traceability of the funds, the payment would have been made through compensation between group accounts or Gerard Piqué”.
