The 2025 Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix will be held on the weekend of October 24 to 26, after the United States circuit (Austin) and before stopping in Brazil (Sao Paulo), in a season that For the first time in six years, Australia will be the inaugural venue instead of Bahrain, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) reported in the presentation of the calendar.

Mexico and seven other circuits – including Belgium, Monaco, Italy and the Netherlands – will end their contract with F1 next year. On different occasions, authorities and organizers of the GP have expressed their interest in extending the agreement, although more nations intend to have a place in the great motorsport festival. This is the case of China, which will host a race this April 21 after a five-year absence, and South Korea, whose project includes an urban circuit through the streets of Incheon, a city near Seoul.

As in previous editions where thousands of people traveled from north to south to attend the Hermanos Rodríguez, the F1 series will thus reach the last appointment of the link announced in 2022 by the Government of Mexico City.

The most recent champion in 2023 was the Dutchman Max Verstappen, on an afternoon where his teammate Sergio Checo Pérez abandoned after crashing in the first corner.

The 24-race season will begin on March 16 in Melbourne and end on December 7 in Abu Dhabi. The Bahrain GP had been the first of each championship since 2021, while the Saudi Arabia GP, with its luxuries and lavish investments, earned a place as the second on the calendar since 2022.

F1 did not race at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit in 2020 and 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but will now host the inaugural circuit instead of the Middle Eastern kingdom as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan falls in March. of the next year.

The first European race will be in Imola, in May, as part of a triple event that also includes Monaco and Spain.

Although the current season has sprints in six races – China, Miami, Austria, the United States (Austin), Brazil and Qatar – the test schedule will be announced later, the authorities specified. The FIA did not reveal the number or the circuits on which it will take place.

As for the rest of the 2025 calendar, the structure will be very similar to 2024, with some slightly modified dates, such as the Spanish GP, in Barcelona, brought forward to early June, or that of Hungary, now after the Belgian race, just before the summer break.

There will also be a total of five back-to-back, two weekends with consecutive races. The dates and locations of pre-season rehearsals have not yet been confirmed.
