Team Chile shines in the I Bolivarian Youth Games: Final Stretch Update

The I Bolivarian Youth Games enter the final stretch.

Today, Friday, the penultimate day was played.

Team Chile once again stood out, especially in athletics.

The first gold of the day came in the men’s decathlon.

Max Moraga took the gold medal by achieving 6859 points.

Our country went 1-2 in this test.

The silver medal was in the hands of Facundo Millán with 6,566 units.

The second gold of the day went to the men’s 4×100 relay.

Benjamín Aravena, Gonzalo Mena, Martín Villegas, Max Moraga and Ramón Fuenzalida took the gold medal with a time of 41.52 seconds.

In the men’s long jump, Gonzalo Mena won the silver medal with a record of 6.98 meters.

In the women’s 4×100 relay, Antonia Ramírez, Blanca Yarur, Catalina Rozas, Jacinta Philipps and Matilde Tejos took silver, registering 46.06 seconds, just one hundredth behind Ecuador.

Finally, María Amalia Baboun took bronze in the women’s high jump, registering a mark of 1.60 meters.

Today was the debut of Team Chile judo, adding important medals.

In men’s -66 kilos, Fabricio Meyer took the silver medal.

In the final, Meyer fell to Venezuelan Danny Ríos.

The second silver medal came in the -52 kilo ladies category.

Paulette Corrotea got on the podium after losing in the final to the Venezuelan Leomaris Ruiz.

In the -55 kilos men’s category a bronze medal was obtained.

John Madrid defeated Bolivian Jhamil Huaycho in the final for third place.

Olympic wrestling also delivered medals to Chile on its first day of competition, with the Greco-Roman modality disputed.

Augusto Vargas won the gold medal in the men’s 65 kilo category.

The national fighter won three of the four matches in the only phase played.

Squash, meanwhile, contributed two bronze medals.

In the women’s doubles, Amalia Carranza and Magdalena Sole fell in the semifinals 0-2 (3-11, 4-11) against the Bolivians Marcela Flores and Natalia Arancibia.

In the men’s doubles, Santiago Godoy and Nicolás Rodríguez fell 0-2 (4-11, 7-11) against the Bolivians Alvin Ríos and Santiago Escobar.

Finally, in the triathlon, the bronze medal was won in the mixed relay.

Ignacio Flores, Daniel Ubilla, Sol Ottenhsimer and Emilia Dabadie achieved third place with a time of 1 hour, 28 minutes and 46 seconds.

In boxing, Chile secured at least the silver medal.

In the men’s 57 kilo category, Martín Henríquez defeated Colombian Keiner Morales in the semifinals by unanimous decision.

This Saturday, Henríquez will define the gold against the Venezuelan Alberto Estanga.

In futsal, Chile lost their first match 2-6 against Venezuela.

In women’s volleyball, Chile beat Bolivia 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-16) and this Saturday they will compete for gold against Peru.

This Saturday will be the penultimate day of the Games, on a day where medals will be awarded in athletics, boxing, mountain biking, judo, Olympic wrestling, racquetball, squash, archery and volleyball.
