Syracuse-Castrovillari: one hundred years, one faith

For the match against Castrovillari, the “De Simone” of Syracuse dresses up to celebrate the hundred years that have passed since April 1st 1924 when football had already been played in the city for a few years, but Luigi Santuccio and Genesio Pioletti promoted the merger between the Esperia of the island of Ortigia, the Insuperabile of the Borgata Santa Lucia and the formation of the soldiers of the 75th Infantry gave life to the Circolo Sportivo Tommaso Gargallo Siracusa, unanimously considered as the first football nucleus of today’s Syracuse.

In the stands it was the usual great display of cheering from the team Curve Anna, as in the whole season indeed. The icing on the cake on this special occasion is in the splendid choreography set up to celebrate the “one hundred years of their one faith”, semit. A choreography that is a bit like closing the circle with the other beautiful show staged in the first leg against Trapani. However, the whole year has been special for the Syracusan fans, who returned to D after a series of unsuccessful attempts, then demonstrated actively and with support well above the lines to demonstrate not only this category but also more.

Many chants, clapping one after the other, flags and scarves constantly coloring the curve, there was also no shortage of messages of brotherly love towards the Stabia twins, fresh from mathematical promotion to Serie B. Even the Goddess Eupalla extended a benevolent hand on the pitch, where the biancazzurri beat Castrovillari with a clear 3-1. Everything was perfect if it weren’t for the empty guest sector and the consequent total absence of an ultras match. It’s a shame but rightly so, given that for some time the Calabrian fans have self-suspended their activities in protest against the club’s actions. If suffering far from your beloved team is the means to try to save a love, rightly so.
