Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter has been banned from the NBA for life for adapting his game to a sports bet.
The young career of Jontay Porter (24 years old) will have no continuation. The player who arrived at the Toronto Raptors in the summer of 2023, voluntarily disclosed confidential information about his behavior, in an official match, in order to guide the outcome of a sports bet.
In a press release, the NBA indicates that a suspicious investment of $80,000 was made during Porter’s playing time during the March 20 game. The young man then only entered the field for 3 minutes before leaving with a potential injury, to validate this bet. In addition to this charge the player was found guilty of “13 paris» placed via an associated account, for a total of $54,094, on matches in which he did not take part.
