Successor Thiago? ‘Club Brugge has a new striker in its sights’

Club Brugge can prepare for the semi-finals of the Conference League and also hopes to compete for the title in their own country. In the meantime, however, the coming transfer period is also being prepared. Blauw-Zwart is also looking for a new striker.

As is generally known, Club Brugge will officially say goodbye to Vincent Mannaert after the season. To replace him, his duties were split into different functions. These were largely completed internally. Dévy Rigaux, another valued employee, was promoted to a key job.

Rigaux is the new ‘Director of Football’. In that capacity, he will largely be concerned with transfer policy. And his first incoming deal is now a fact. For example, Blauw-Zwart already announced the arrival of Ardon Jashari. The controlling midfielder comes over from FC Luzern for around 6 million euros.

Replacement for Thiago

But that is not the end of the homework on the mercato. The next transfer priority has already been determined. Rigaux will have to recruit a new striker for the coming season. Club had found a suitable number nine with Igor Thiago last summer.

But as is now known, the Brazilian will leave for Brentford FC after the season for a lot of money. It is now up to Rigaux to find a worthy successor. And for this purpose various paths are followed. Blue-Black would also search around the African continent.

Seasoning in South Africa

Nigerian media like Score Nigeria in The Nation, although not the most reliable sources, claim that Club Brugge has an eye on Etiosa ‘Godspower’ Ighodaro. This 22-year-old Nigerian is currently under contract with the South African top club Mamelodi Sundowns. This season, however, he is being rented out to series rivals SuperSport United and there Ighodaro has become a permanent strongman. Club would soon contact its parent club, although these rumors have not yet been confirmed.
