Success for Yonnais Judo Club: Athletes Qualify for French Second Division Championship

At the end of March, at the regional Dojo of Angers (Maine-et-Loire), Lya Blaineau and Leïla Gauvrit were ranked 3rd and 5th respectively, during the second division regional cadet championship. They are therefore qualified for the French second division championship which will take place on May 18, in Ceyrat, near Clermont-Ferrand.

“It’s a good level regional championship, notes Éric Sallé, president of the Yonnais Judo club. The first and second division championships coexist, there is no gateway to go from one to the other. » Louis Chauvin was also selected but “he was unable to participate due to injury”, specifies the president.

The announcement of these results is also an opportunity to take stock, one year after the integration of the Venansault club into the Yonnais Judo club.

“This integration allows Venansalte judokas to participate in what is organized by the Yonnais Judo Club. There are now thirty-five judokas licensed in Venansault. compared to just under thirty, in December 2022”, says Éric Sallé.

The icing on the cake, in two weeks, the club will receive six judokas from the Japanese Tenri team. “There will be training with them on Wednesday April 10, from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., at the Yonnais Judo-club dojo. (36, impasse Joseph-Guillemot in La Roche-sur-Yon). Tenri is the benchmark university in Japan. Teddy Riner trains there. I am receiving them, for the third time, thanks to a network that I have, as a former international athlete,” concludes President Sallé.
