Success for Judo Clubs in South of Madrid at Regional Event, Qualify for Spanish Championship

Great results for the judo clubs of Valdemoro, San Martín de la Vega and Ciempozuelos in the regional event of the children’s and cadet categories. The young people who train at the sports facilities in the south of Madrid played a great role in the fights held this weekend in Villaviciosa de Odón, managing to get on the podium in several categories and qualify for the Spanish Championship, which will take place in Pamplona between on April 26 and 28.

Judo Valdemoro attended the competition with a group of 30 athletes who managed to collect a record of 9 medals: the three bronzes from Elena Sánchez, Adrián Vega and David Tadevosyan in children and the six metals accumulated in cadet, where José Pajares was proclaimed champion from Madrid weighing less than 55 kilograms.

The other five athletes from the club who hung medals around their necks in the category for under-18 athletes were: Javier Dryzga and David Sánchez, silver in less than 66 and 73 kilograms respectively, and Hugo Huerta, María Jover and Iván Pizarro, bronze in less than 60, 63 and 66 kilograms.

In the case of San Martín de la Vega, Paula Fernández and Ivan Fraile, already accustomed to triumphs, shone in the fights of their categories and climbed to the first step of the podium. The judoka, who had just competed in the Spanish Junior Championships together with the selection of the Community of Madridtook gold in the category of less than 48 kilograms of weight in the cadet category, with her partner Inés Ruiz as the second best classified.

The victory for Fraile was in less than 46 kilograms of weight in the children’s category. Rodrigo Ruiz completed the record of the San Martín de la Vega team with a bronze in less than 42 kilograms of weight in this same category.

Cristina Butuc signs a perfect championship

Judo Ciempozuelos closes the list with the impeccable championship of the young Cristina Butuc, who received the gold medal as a reward for her three fast ippones in the fights reserved for cadet judokas weighing more than 70 kilograms. Ainara Sánchez (cadet, -44 kg) and Alicia Gragera (infant, -52 kg) returned home with two fifth places, after falling in the semifinals and in the dispute for bronze.
