Success Continues for Rowing Slalom Masters of Liepāja SK “Atvars” in Early Season Competitions

Already in the first competitions of the season, the masters of rowing slalom of Liepāja SK “Atvars” set a sound tone, who won both individual distances in the K1 rating.

Almost 50 athletes took to the starting line in the men’s “Brivo vattu” cup competition, and Martins Macijauskas from Liepāja broke the buttons for all of them, who showed a result of 84.05 seconds in the decisive race, 0.81 seconds ahead of the experienced Estonian Tarmo Peiker.

Klāvs Auznieks completed the Olympic six, but in the U18 rating he took 4th place.

In the women’s competition this year, a fierce competition between our Elizabeta Kurvina and the Estonian Maria Peiker can be sensed again.

In a tight fight, the Liepāja woman was superior in this duel, beating her usual opponent by 1.08 seconds.

Laura Žodziņa finished the competition in 5th place, but in the U18 rating, the Kurzemi woman took 3rd position.

Team matches were also held during the competition, where Martins Macijausks, Klāvs Auznieks and Pēteris Pelīte won 3rd place.

In the continuation of the competition, the Iecava championship took place, where the representatives of “Atvara” had to deviate only slightly from the results achieved the previous day.

Martin was prevented from winning by too many mistakes on the track, which allowed him to win 2nd place this time in serious competition.

Klāvs Auznieks ranked 4th, but in the U18 ranking, ours is 3rd.

Elizabete, however, was not going to give up her position and won quite convincingly, this time ahead of her closest rival by 7.15 seconds.

In both competitions, Iveta Dūkupe from Liepāja took on the role of the chief judge and held the stern position of the judge.

Already this weekend, the competition for rowers will continue, and “Atvars” will go to Lithuania to divide the waters of the neighboring country.
