“Unfortunately, the comeback is not an issue at the moment,” said Dominic’s father Stephan Stricker when asked by SRF. Things are getting better day by day, but the back is still causing problems. “He should let the injury heal and then build up well.”
Stricker had originally planned to return to the ATP tour at the sand tournament in Zadar, Croatia, in mid-March. Now the forced break is likely to last much longer.
Probably not a French Open for knitters
“It will probably be May or even June before he comes back,” says father Stricker. This means that the 2023 US Open round of 16 will probably miss the French Open in Paris (from May 20th).
The longer break will also result in Stricker slipping further in the rankings. But his father doesn’t see that as a problem: “He’s still young and will be able to catch up.”
