Steve Kerr Reflects on Draymond Green’s Impact on Warriors in Emotional Press Conference

After the devastating defeat against the Sacramento Kings in the play-in of the Western Conference, the Warriors’ season is over. In a final press conference, Steve Kerr reflected on the playing time and particularly talked about Draymond Green. “He is one of the most loyal people I have ever met. He is one of the most combative and one of the smartest players I have ever met. And yet he makes these decisions that hurt the team, that are not smart. How brings “It’s really difficult to reconcile all of that,” says Kerr.

The interim suspension that Green had to serve after a hit against Jusuf Nurkic, however, was immensely important for the 34-year-old’s career: “He hit Jordan (Poole). He grabbed Rudy Gobert by the neck. He hit (Jusuf Nurkić) You can’t do that according to the basic laws of society, the basic norms, right? So at that point, it was the best thing that could have happened to Draymond is at stake every day.”

Overall, Kerr spoke about Green in a four-minute (!) answer, while also attempting to explain Green’s relationship with the Warriors’ franchise: “Draymond is complex. His relationship with our franchise is complex. But at the core, it’s a deep loyalty and passion and Love, and we share that with him. It’s really difficult to reconcile. You almost don’t try to reconcile it. You help him through it and make sure he’s the best version of himself you push him further.”
