Stefanos Tsitsipas managed to reach the semi-finals in Monte Carlo against Karen Khachanov without any problems.
The role of favorite in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters tournament in Monte Carlo between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Karen Khachanov was clearly divided, after all, the Greek won seven of the eight meetings so far. The 25-year-old has also triumphed twice in the principality.
At the beginning of the encounter, both players were still looking for their rhythm with their own service, which was reflected in three breaks at the start. After winning the service game, Tsitsipas took over and, like Khachanov, held all subsequent service games in the opening set. After only losing one point in the last game, the No. 12 seed in the tournament secured victory in the first round with a service winner.
The 27-year-old Khachanov was able to open the beginning of the second act before Tsitsipas set the course for victory with the break in the fifth game and was unstoppable. Without losing another game, the 25-year-old sealed the 6:4, 6:2 win after 83 minutes.
The world number 12 is waiting in the semi-finals. on the winner of the encounter between Jannik Sinner from South Tyrol, ranked No. 2, and Holger Rune from Denmark, ranked No. 7.
