The cyclist Silvia González, accompanied by her teammate, the athlete Abel Antón, presented this Tuesday in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) the jersey that her ‘Aural Superación’ team will wear in the Titan Desert test that will be held in Morocco between on April 28 and May 3. The mayor of Talavera de la Reina, José Julián Gregorio, participated in the event; the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer of Toledo, Fernando Jou; The Councilor for Sports, Antonio Núñez, and the CEO of Murwall, Jesús Murua, showed off the clothing of the team that will participate in the international charity event to promote cancer research.

Silvia González has conveyed the importance of participating in this test after overcoming cancer, as an initiative to make visible the importance of sport against the disease. “It is important to send this message because when you are strong and any illness happens to you, the illness affects you less and you also recover sooner,” said the athlete.

González, who thanked the support of Murwall and the team’s sponsor, Centros Auditivos Aural, highlighted the toughness of the Titan Desert, highlighting that it is a reference test in resistance, with “25 countries represented and about 600 people” participants.

Likewise, he thanked Abel Antón for accompanying him in this project, stating that “it is an honor and a pride” to have him during the resistance test.

For his part, the CEO of Murwall has celebrated the opportunity to participate in the project with the contribution of the equipment. “We as a Talavera company in our day to day work to overcome challenges and when we had the opportunity to learn about Silvia’s story, we fell in love with that character and that personality and we could not do anything other than support,” said Jesús Murua.

The CEO of Murwall has highlighted the solidarity nature of the jerseys, trusting that “they can have a lot of impact” and thanking the AECC for its work against cancer. In this sense, he has indicated that two of the jerseys will be auctioned to allocate the profits to research projects of the Association.

Echoing Murua’s words, Fernando Jou thanked Silvia González and Abel Antón for their support and encouraged them ahead of the test. “If you have been able to defeat cancer, I have no doubt that 600 kilometers through the Atlas Desert, that is nothing compared to what you already have,” the president of the AECC in Toledo assured González.

Jou took advantage of the occasion to remember the weight of the incidence of cancer in society, pointing out that “one in two men and one in three women throughout their lives will have cancer.” “But it can be overcome with research,” she added, underlining the importance of initiatives to support it, and indicating that the AECC currently has an investment of 104 million euros in live research projects.

For his part, Abel Antón has praised the efforts of Silvia González, pointing out that she is “the true protagonist.” Regarding the test, Antón has acknowledged that “it has nothing to do with running a bicycle and especially in the desert”, but he has expressed his confidence in “being able to return to Talavera to say that we finished well and tell you about our adventure.”

As for the mayor of Talavera, he was happy to host the presentation of the team that will compete for “such an important cause and one in which we never have to give up” such as the fight against cancer. Gregorio has also highlighted the participation in the project of Murwall, as well as an “athlete of the stature of Abel Antón.”

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of the fight against cancer, stating that “this City Council also supports this cause, because no one is superfluous in the fight against cancer.”

THE BOARD DELIVERS THE FLAG OF CASTILLA-LA MANCHA TO ‘AURAL SUPERACIÓN’

On the other hand, the delegate of the Board in Talavera de la Reina, David Gómez, and the provincial delegate of Education, Culture and Sports, José Gutiérrez, have delivered the flag of Castilla-La Mancha European Sports Region to the team.

During a meeting prior to the presentation of the kit, Gómez and Gutiérrez presented the banner, highlighting the support of the Board for “this initiative that combines sport and solidarity” and thanking them for giving visibility to Castilla-La Mancha during the celebration of the kit.
