Sicily Triumphs in Pinocchio Trophy – Memorial “Odilia Coccato”

Sicily wrote its name for the first time in the roll of honor of the Pinocchio Trophy – Memorial “Odilia Coccato” which concluded today at the “Eusebio Pavone” Municipal Stadium of Atri, with the stands packed with parents and companions. Among the protagonists of this important success is the young Claudio Barbaro, a student of the Ic D’Alcontres of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, who gave his precious contribution to the victory of the Sicilian team, taking third place in his category.

It was a colorful celebration of sport filled with emotions, shouts of jubilation, tears of joy and even some tears of disappointment experienced by the 241 young archers from all over Italy, participating in the National Final of the trophy, organized by the Arcieri il Delfino with the support of the FITARCO Abruzzo Regional Committee and the Atri Cup association.

The final ranking by region was obtained by adding the scores of the individual competition with the 48 arrows shot on 80cm targets at a distance of 20 meters for the athletes born in 2010 and 2011, while those born in 2012, 2013 and 2014 competed at the distance of 15 metres.

The Sicilian team with 5809 points overall defeated its competitor, followed in the ranking in second place by Veneto with 5778 and by the defending champions from Lombardy who finished with 5624.
