Sibling Rivalry: Toma Junior Popov Secures Olympic Qualification Over Brother Christo

Last October at the end of training in Fos-sur-Mer, Toma Junior Popov (25 years old) joked with his little brother Christo (22 years old) about their duel for Olympic qualification in men’s singles. “I’m the eldest, you have to give me room,” he said. At the cost of a fierce fight, it was ultimately Toma Junior who won the Olympic ticket thanks to his final at the European Championships in Saarbrücken which ended this Sunday. Reached by telephone from Denmark, the eldest brother confides in his joy of competing in the Paris Olympics but does not forget Christo who will not participate, in singles but also in doubles.

What is your feeling 24 hours after your defeat in the final but with your Olympic ticket in your pocket?
