Sharpening Their Aim: National Archery Competition for Young Practitioners Begins in Sancti Spíritus

Havana.- THE BEST Young archery practitioners in the country will sharpen their aim from today in the province of Sancti Spíritus, headquarters of the pioneer cup and the national youth category competition.

Aliesky Reyes, responsible for both divisions of the recurve bow modality, confirmed to JIT that for this Wednesday the official practice and the review of the implements were planned, while the little ones will carry out the technical tests.

“The juniors will begin with the double lap at 70 meters and then the first individual medals will be distributed, by teams for each sex, and by the mixed team,” Reyes said from the central territory.

As a peculiarity, in the category for those under 20 years of age, separate prizes will be distributed for each of the throws at 70 meters. To this end, it was decided to separate the results of the two rounds with 36 arrows each, although there will also be prizes for those with the best totals (72 arrows).

Among the juniors, 24 men and 22 girls from 10 provinces are registered, while the pioneer tournament will have contestants from 11 territories.

«In the minor category the targets are placed at a distance of 20 meters. At the same time, technical tests acquire a fundamental value to determine positions,” said the national team coach.

These specific skills will now be evaluated on 20 boys and 19 girls, who will also animate the so-called Olympic round, consisting of eliminatory matches. They will also look for prizes in a fair for mixed teams.
