Serious fight in a youth football match in Castelldefels with insults and punches from the fans

A soccer match between youth a Castelldefels (Baix Llobregat) arrived at pushing and punching last Sunday April 14. The party faced the Castelldefels Sports Union with the Fontsanta Fatjó Sports Clubbased in Cornellà de Llobregat (Baix Llobregat) at the Els Canyars municipal stadium in Castelldefels.

For reasons that have not transpired, dozens of people from both teams finished facing the bleachers and on the field of the stadium, as reflected by a video published by the digital ‘Metròpoli Openta’. From the UE Castelldefels insist that they will not make statements about what happened and point to the fact that the people who were involved in the brawl they have already transferred the conflict to the police. Although this newspaper has also tried to contact CD Fontsanta Fatjó, at the time of publication of the article, no response has been obtained.

For their part, the Mossos d’Esquadra explain that they went to the scene alerted by some of the attendees and that it was identified to the various parties involved, but that, as of now, there are no complaints related to the April 14 fight. Thus, in the minutes of the match collected by the Catalan Football Federation, it is not stated that any player or member of the coaching staff was expelled in the course of the match, which the locals won by three goals to two.

Fights between parents at youth football games are one worrying event and, unfortunately, recurring: just a month ago, several parents starred in one crowd fight in a children’s match in Mallorca that ended with one of the participants having a fractured collarbone.

In addition, the CB Castelldefels basketball team has also reported having experienced one situation of violence, in this case, as a visitor on the track of CB Navàs. According to a statement issued by the Baix Llobregat club, after receiving “constant threats and verbal abuse”, at the end of the match, some players and their companions “suffered physical attacks”. In its statement, the basketball club affirms that both those attacked and the club itself have “already carried out the timely complaints before authorities and official bodies”.
