Serie D Championship: Borgo San Donnino Faces Crucial Match Against Corticella

After a stormy week for the Pistoiese case (Click here)we return to the pitch in the Serie D championship: all seven matches valid for the 32nd matchday are scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 21 April, at 3pm.

Borgo San Donnino will be busy in Bologna, host of Corticella, third strength in group D: Mr. Baratta’s team will play in the first (of the three) survival finals. It will be 270 minutes of fire for the Fidenza team, architects of their own destiny. The blue and whites are experiencing the best moment of their season: the two victories against Pistoiese – later taken away due to the exclusion of the latter – and Lentigione, in addition to the home draw with Sant’Angelo, have restored hope for a salvation that no longer late a month and a half ago it seemed to have flown by. The villagers now believe in it, but there is still a long way to go: the gap from Progresso – 14th at 31 points (+7) – must remain at least unchanged to be able to play everything in the playouts, just one more point and the dream salvation will remain so. Mister Gianluca Baratta will have to do without two fundamental players in the “Biavati” match: captain Giacomo Rossi is not available due to the red card given to Lentigione, and will return next week against Ravenna; Marco Djuric, however, is out due to injury.

This match also represents an important crossroads of the season for Corticella. Behind Carpi and Ravenna, in fact, the fight for the last three playoff places is more heated than ever. The Biancocelesti find themselves ahead of their main opponents: to secure the playoffs they are forced to win against Borgo San Donnino, and at the same time one between Forlì – involved in the big match of the day against Carpi – and Victor San Marino must not obtain points. The team coached by Alessandro Miramari is back from two victories: last week they repeated their success against their cousins from Imola with a 1-6 victory on the Certaldo pitch. The strength of the Bolognese team is undoubtedly the offensive phase: with 55 goals scored they are the second best attack in the championship – behind only Carpi – and they can count on former Piccardo Traversetolo player Michele Trombetta, second in the scoring charts with 15 goals networks. If in the scoring phase the Bolognese are among the most dangerous in the entire Serie D, the same cannot be said for the non-possession phase: the 38 goals conceded make them the seventh worst defense in group D; There is room to do badly and it must be exploited.

At the “Ballotta” the first leg match saw Corticella prevail with a 2-0 result: Trombetta’s goal and Frattini’s unfortunate own goal decreed the defeat of Borgo San Donnino – at the time coached by Walter Vangioni – who but it didn’t disfigure itself, perhaps deserving something more. Let’s hope that Lady Luck smiles on the Parma team, who desperately need points.
