The WTA announced this Thursday an agreement with the Saudi Arabian Tennis Federation to bring the WTA Finals, the Masters tournament, to the city of Riyadh from 2024 to 2026.

The 2024 End of Season Finals will be held between November 2 and 9 and will feature the top eight singles players and doubles teams in the Race to the WTA Finals.

“The WTA selected Riyadh after a comprehensive evaluation process lasting several months, which included evaluating multiple offers from different regions and engaging with players. All potential hosts were considered based on a clear set of criteria,” it says. the WTA.

Those criteria were “the ability to deliver and finance a world-class event for players and fans, support for the WTA’s ambition to achieve significant growth in prize money and the strength of its commitment to the growth of the WTA Finals and sport over time.

The agreement with the Saudi Arabian Tennis Federation will offer a record prize money of $15.25 million at the WTA Finals in 2024 with further increases in 2025 and 2026.

The partnership will also support broader investment in the future development and growth of women’s tennis, including the WTA’s plans to grow the global fan base of women’s tennis through increased investment in marketing, digital and fan engagement. .
