A dream course

Like every year, applicants for the title of marathon runners will be entitled to a grandiose course among the monuments of Paris. After starting from the Champs-Élysées, the runners will pass in front of the Place de la Concorde, the Opéra Garnier, the Louvre, Notre-Dame de Paris, the Musée d’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais and even the Auteuil Racecourse, Bastille, Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne.

Traffic restrictions

But who says spectacular route, also says traffic restrictions. The police headquarters have therefore put in place a system to secure the perimeter.

All these sectors of the route will remain inaccessible for a large part of the day. For the Champs-Élysées and Rivoli, total closure from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for Bastille, the 12th arrondissement and the banks of the Seine, reopening around 3:30 p.m., for the Bois de Vincennes, at 3 p.m. In the 16th arrondissement, the sector will be open to traffic again from 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on the Boulogne and Trocadero side. As for Avenue Foch where the marathon runners arrive, you will have to wait until 11 p.m.

Exemptions will obviously be provided for residents as well as service vehicles.

The police headquarters recommends that spectators use public transport during this period and that individuals move their parked cars.

Cheer someone up

Public transport, precisely. The Paris marathon offers a fictitious metro line to follow the route from one end to the other, with suggested stops to encourage your runner.

And if the spectators are also sporty, cycling is recommended to follow.

Follow your athlete online

With the official application, it is possible to follow up to 10 runners at the same time, with their location on the map, their classification upon arrival, by simply entering the number of the connected bib.

How to collect your bib?

For runners, the bib can be collected at the Run Expérience Salon on April 4, 5 and 6, 2024. No bib will be given out on the day of the race.
