Rougned Odor Returns to the New York Yankees with Minor League Agreement

Rougned Odor will once again wear the New York Yankees jersey, after signing a minor league agreement with the organization. After the epidemic of injuries to the team’s infielders, it is always good to have players with that experience on the club.

Odor had signed an agreement with the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan in January, but was released after not obtaining the expected results in the first round of trade with the Japanese organization.

It is the Yankees’ second season with Odor. The Venezuelan, now 30 years old, spent the 2021 season in the Bronx and hit .202/.286/.379 with 15 home runs in 361 plate appearances. After his time in New York, he wore the Orioles and Padres jerseys.

Odor has a trio of 30-home run seasons in his career, but he hasn’t been able to keep it up consistently in recent years.

In total, the utility infielder has recorded 188 home runs in the majors, with a .230 batting average and a .288 on-base percentage. He highlighted his exercises in 2016, 2017 and 2019, always with Texas, since in those he managed to hit 33 home runs, 30 and 30, respectively.

Now he will seek to convince the Bronx organization that he deserves a spot on the Major League roster this season.
