Roland-Garros Prize Money Increased for 2024 Tournament: Winners Get 100,000 Euros More!

Roland-Garros prize money increases significantly for players eliminated in the first rounds or even during qualifying. The winners will also receive 100,000 euros more than in 2023. In total, the prize money represents a little more than 53 million euros.

This year’s Roland-Garros tournament will offer a total prize pool of 53.478 million euros, an increase of 7.82% compared to last year. The organizers wanted to continue to support the players who need it the most in order to help them finance their season and maintain their structure.

A significant effort was thus made in the first three rounds of the final singles draw. Thus, the player eliminated in the first round will receive 73,000 euros, or 4,000 more than last year. The two winners will receive a check for 2.4 million euros, an increase of 100,000 euros compared to 2023. The finalists will be rewarded exactly half.

The Suzanne Lenglen used for qualifying

The qualifying event – from Monday May 20 to Friday May 24 –, which brings together players between 100th and 250th place in the world, also sees its prize pool increase by 24.65%. Thus, the winner in the first round of these qualifiers will receive a record sum of 20,000 euros. Whoever fails at the gates of the big picture will leave with 41,000 euros. The organizers expect 75,000 spectators during this “opening week”.

For the first time, the Suzanne Lenglen court will host qualifying matches. The new roof, which represents the former champion’s pleated dress from the 1930s, can be used. It has been tested and can be “unrolled” in around ten minutes. But no night session will be organized on the second most important court of the French Open. The organizers were unable to manage the flow of 25,000 people at a very late hour.
