The New Rimini championship in group C of the Baseball series A will start on April 20th in Parma, against Crocetta. The Rimini team, promoted to the top flight last year at the end of a triumphant season, with the play-offs dominated against Lastra a Signa, then returns to represent the city’s fast and run action in Serie A.
The lead-up to the new championship, which began with physical preparation and the first friendly match in Godo last Saturday, will begin to intensify tomorrow in the friendly match in Bologna against Italian champions Fortitudo. Then on April 13th two matches are scheduled in Rimini against Modena and on April 20th the two away matches in the league will arrive which will kick off the season.
A preparation followed closely by the new manager, the Colombian Dorian Castro, assisted by the staff made up of the pitching coach Daniele Del Bianco and the coaches Lole Avagnina, Andrea Evangelisti, Lino Zappone, Mattia Pandolfi and the bull pen with coach Paolo Del Bianco.
It will once again be a Serie A with an expanded format, made up of an elite group that will play three seven-inning games per weekend. The other teams, including the Rimini team, will be in the remaining four groups and will compete in two nine-round matches. Group C, in addition to Crocetta Parma and New Rimini, also includes Padova, Ronchi dei Legionari, Rovigo and Cagliari.

“We were placed in a tough group – commented Mario Chiarini, the company’s new General Manager – made up of ambitious and well-equipped teams. It will be a long and challenging season. We have a team built with the aim of remaining in Serie A, made up of many local boys who have earned the top flight after an amazing and winning season. We are completing the roster in view of the start of the season and next week, with all the memberships defined, we will announce the news. The goal of salvation will be achieved if we know how to make the group solid, improve constantly during the summer and create a good climate around us. These first few weeks have sent positive signals, the boys are tuning in to the baseball that Dorian Castro demands and in these friendly matches the pitch will give us the first answers.”
The three main sponsors have been confirmed: Banca Mediolanum – Rimini Consultants Office, Aon and Erba Vita. At their side are local companies who have confirmed their support for the company led by president Alessia Valducci and vice president Giacomo Pelliccioni.
The championship regulations provide that the top-ranked teams in each group enter a first preliminary round in view of the play-offs, while the other teams will play the Relegation Poule which will initially be structured into three groups. The last placed teams will go to the play outs and two will be relegated to Serie B.
