Rick De Mil Takes Charge at Sporting de Charleroi: Mission Relegation Survival Begins

Rik De Mil has been appointed head of Sporting de Charleroi. The former Westerlo coach will have one mission in these Play-downs: save the club from relegation.

Sporting de Charleroi will begin its Play-downs by hosting RWDM, the red lantern, this Saturday (4:00 p.m.).

This Friday at a press conference, Rick De Mille returned to his first days in Charleroi. “I’m really proud to be here. Charleroi is a big club. I had a lot of work and little time but the two days of training were important,” De Mil said, according to comments relayed by the Last hour.

De Mil also had to boost the morale of his troops after the departure of Happy Mazzù and the hard news of the Play-downs. “What I mainly did was create a group again. All the players stayed a little in their corner. It’s normal for them to have doubts when you lose everything in the last match.”

“Mentally, it’s hard to accept and the group asks itself a lot of questions, but if everyone does their job and accepts the difficult situation we are experiencing, we have all the qualities to succeed,” continued De Mil.

He also had to work on certain aspects. “On certain points, this core lacked discipline. It was not catastrophic but I find that there are things that we should and must improve. players want structure.”
