Reventón El Paso Fred.Olsen Express 2024, simply spectacular

Spectacular. That was the comment most repeated by the more than 2,000 participants who gathered today at the twelfth edition of Reventón El Paso Fred.Olsen Express. The heart of La Palma became the epicenter of trail running throughout the day with the dispute of five close modalities that brought together thousands of spectators in the municipality. In the queen distance, the Ultra Trail Cumbre Vieja, Manu Anguita and Caludia Mola won, while in the Marathon distance Alejandro Mayor and Inés Astrain won. In the oldest type of Reventón, the Classic, Sergio Álvarez and Nuria Gil won. In the most explosive modalities, Aythami Brito and María Benito were the fastest, with respect to the Sprint, while the Starter was dominated again by the Camacho brothers, Edwin and María.

Ultra Trail Cumbre Vieja

From the first stages of a race (70 km.) that started at 08:00 hours, Manu Anguita and Borja Fernández took the lead. Following closely behind them are three Canarians: Albi Cedrés from Lanzarote, Oswaldo Medina from Gran Canaria and Manuel Alexis Martín from Tenerife. Everyone was very close, but after kilometer 15 the first significant differences began to appear. The brothers Anguita and Borja increased the pace, leaving the Canarian triplet somewhat behind. Even so, Albi and Oswaldo were able to stay close to the first.

The ascent to Reventón substantially modified the positions, with Albi Cedrés now leading the race, but closely followed by Borja Fernández who managed to crown Reventón with a time of 02:14:04. 26 seconds later the man from Lanzarote passed through said checkpoint and the Anguita followed behind him.

The heat made an appearance to toughen a test of 70 kilometers and more than 8,000 meters of accumulated elevation gain. The alternation was the general tone of a career that took a turn with the withdrawal of Cedrés in Fátima. Manuel Alexis Martín took the baton from him and sneaked into the party that the brothers Anguita and Borja Fernández had organized. They were going to dispute the victory.

Manuel Alexis Martín from Tenerife took third place on the podium with a time of 06:56:15.

In the women’s category, Claudia Mola won a comfortable victory, beating the second-place finisher by almost an hour. Her finish time was 09:29:16, while María Tatiana Mujica González from Gran Canaria crossed the finish line in second position with a time of 10:23:15. Raquel Hernández would be the third in contention, closing her participation at 11:01:59.

Marathon

The Marathon (42.2 km.) was one of the most exciting of the long day of races that took place in El Paso. Alejandro Mayor arrived at the central Manuel Taño street, the true heart of Reventón El Paso 2024, with disbelief at managing to win, by a narrow margin, over Yonet González and Domantas Kavaliauskas. The Gran Canarian man spent 3:53:09 completing the demanding route of the Marathon. Less than two minutes later, Yonet made an appearance, with a time of 03:55:53, while the Lithuanian crossed the finish line in 03:57:09.

The level of the women’s category also offered a beautiful spectacle to the followers who followed the test on the screen installed at the finish line or through the live broadcast that offered all the highlights. Inés Astrain took first place on the podium with a time of 04:25:49, while Yasmina Castro from Gran Canaria was second (04:41:35) and Silvia María Caso third (05:32:01).
