Resignation from Electoral Commission of Dominican Badminton Federation: A Stand for Fair Play and Integrity

Through this means I want to communicate my irrevocable resignation as a member of the Electoral Commission for the electoral assembly of the Dominican Badminton Federation, to be held on Saturday, April 27, at 10 in the morning in the Pavilion of the Dominican Federation of Badminton. Chess.

A couple of days ago Nelson Javier Ozuna, president of the Metropolitan Badminton Association, told me that in the extraordinary general assembly I was elected, along with two other members, to be part of said Electoral Commission and after thinking about it and analyzing it I said yes. , even though he did not know that an Electoral Commission already existed, ratified in a previous assembly, in which friends Américo Celado, Gilberto García, and the eminent doctor José Joaquín Puello Herrera were elected.

When I woke up this Thursday morning, several people called me and wrote to me about the case, among them my great friend and advisor Rafael Villalona Calero, who was the first to give me the information and that I should, as a friend, call Celado, who made the complaint about the new Electoral Commission.

In fact, I repeat, I did not know that an Electoral Commission already existed. If I know, I will not sign, because in my short life in sports journalism I have never usurped other people’s functions, but much less would I be competing with great friends like Celado, Gilberto and the eminent doctor Puello Herrera.

Nor did I know until today that “dark hands” are in the “plan” to enter that federation and then get the vote for the elections of the Dominican Olympic Committee for the year 2026.

In my capacity as an upright journalist, who plays fair, and who always criticizes things done poorly, I would not lend myself to being in an electoral assembly and supporting “inappropriate things that I have always criticized.”

But much less would I support politics entering sport, the Olympic movement does not deserve that, and I have always criticized that politics cannot enter the Olympic Committee, therefore, I must remain firm with my principles. I have always been a champion of fair play.

I will always be willing to support and help Olympic sport, mainly federations such as badminton, which is currently suspended by the COD, because the interests should not come before the federation and the athletes.

Thanks to those who called me, supported me and clarified everything for me.
