News that came as a bolt from the blue today, Monday 15 April 2024, for the Settimese community and for the world of baseball and sport in general.
“With extreme suffering, BC Settimo announces the sudden loss of what was the soul, body and mind of the company. We join in the pain of Emanuela, Kevin, William and Alejandro and the whole family. Bye Erne”. This is the short message shared on the social page of the Settimese sports club of which Wong was a true pillar.
The message of condolence from the Italian Baseball Softball Federation – FIBS was not long in coming, announcing:
We are still in disbelief at news that affects the world of baseball, sports and those who loved him across the board. His figure has always been linked to the Bc Settimo sports club, of which he was technical director and manager of the team registered in the Serie A championship. The president Sabrina Oliverothe advisors and collaborators of CR FIBS Piemonte join in the pain of his wife Emanuela, his sons Alejandro, Williams and Kevin, as well as that of the Bc Settimo company”.
On this occasion, the Federation announces that from today until Sunday, to remember the figure of Ernesto, a minute of silence will be respected before all the events held within the organization of CR Piemonte and makes it known that the try is cancelled. -out of Little League Baseball scheduled for April 16.

It is deeply unfair that a life should be cut short in this way. It is an immense and deep pain. Thank you, Ernesto, for everything you have done for our boys and for BC Settimo. I want to express my most affectionate thoughts and my most sincere closeness to Ernesto’s company and family, together with the warmest of hugs.

A story that began in the late nineties
The “seventh month” story of Ernesto Wong Isasi begins towards the end of the 90s, with the meeting with Valter Aluffi. Ernesto, Cuban, with an important champion’s record under his belt, who recently moved to Italy, meets Aluffi and becomes part of the group of coaches, passing on to the boys his experience and professionalism acquired in six years of militancy in the Cuban national team.
Thus began a long story of sport, friendship and passion that will bind him inextricably to the Settimese club, until today’s tragic epilogue.
