Regensburg Guggenberger Legionnaires Dominate Mainz Athletics in Home Premiere

The Regensburg Guggenberger Legionnaires had an impressive home premiere in the new season in the 1st Baseball Bundesliga South. On the second matchday, Regensburg beat league leaders Mainz Athletics 12-4.

With four runs in the first two rounds, the Upper Palatinate team set the course for victory. Six more points in the sixth section sealed the second win of the season.

Newcomer Antonio Torres was the initiator on offense and provided the highlight with his two-run home run in the second inning. In total, the American had three hits and four runs batted in with five chances to hit.

On the pitcher’s mound, starter Joe Cedano de Leon delivered a fantastic performance after his bitter debut in Heidenheim the previous week. The national player sent ten Mainz players back to the bench with a strikeout in five periods and only allowed three hits. Geremi Jimenez da Silva, Konsta Kurikka, Nick Miceli and Abraham da Silva brought the game to a close. This Saturday at 2 p.m. the Regensburg team will meet the Mainz team again in front of their home crowd.
