Record-breaking Performance: Salamanca es Judo Club Shines at Castilla y León Regional Championship

On April 6, the Castilla y León Regional Championship for children and cadets was held. The Salamanca es Judo Club traveled to Valladolid with a team made up of 36 judokas from both categories. This championship is a qualifier for the Spanish School Championship that will be held in Pamplona on April 27 and 28.

In this edition, the team established a new record by becoming the entity with the most medals obtained in Castilla y León in the children’s and cadet categories, achieving a total of 21 medals.

The day began with the cadet category, with great support from the stands from the children’s judokas and their families. This category represents a significant challenge within the world of Judo by competing under absolute regulations.

The Salamanca es Judo Club is proud of the performance of its judokas, highlighting the teamwork, perseverance and effort of everyone. The results speak for themselves:

– Quintín Iglesias – Gold medal -73 Kg.

– Laura Martín – Silver medal -48 Kg.

– Luisa Hernández – Silver medal -63Kg.

– Aaron García – Silver medal -50 Kg.

– Jorge Martín – Silver medal -55 Kg.

– Mario Olcina – Silver medal -90 Kg.

– Nadia Barbero – Bronze medal-52 Kg.

– Mario Rodríguez – Bronze medal -50 Kg.

– Eliot Daniel – Bronze medal -60 Kg.

– Jesús Martínez – Bronze medal -66 Kg.

– José Andrés Alayo – Bronze medal -73 Kg.

It is important to highlight the efforts of those judokas who, although they did not get on the podium, had an excellent championship and made it difficult for their opponents to win.

After the medal presentation, the entire children’s and cadet team gathered with their families to celebrate the traditional family meal. This joint celebration is an integral part of the championship, recognizing the fundamental support that teammates and family provide to judokas.

The children’s competition began in the afternoon, with the children’s team proving their worth in their first regional level championship. Despite the nerves, they managed to reach prominent positions:

– Dario Antoine Babingui – Medalla de plata -50 Kg.

– Pablo Regidor – Silver medal -60 Kg.

– Adriana Moreno – Bronze medal -44 Kg.

– Paula García-Miguel – Bronze medal -48 Kg.

– Irene Mateos – Bronze medal -52 Kg.

– Cristina García – Bronze medal -57 Kg.

– Jesús Berrocal – Bronze medal -50 Kg.

– Álvaro García Matias – Bronze medal -66 Kg.

Although some judokas did not win a medal, they stood out for their excellent performance, thus starting their career in the competition on the right foot.

The championship had outstanding referees, demonstrating the high level of the competition. In addition, ten judokas from the club took the practical test for the Sports Organization Official qualification, a first step in the world of refereeing.

Salamanca is Judo will be represented in the Spanish School Championship by Daniela Cidoncha, Quintín Iglesias and Eduarda Pottker. An invaluable opportunity to gain experience at the national level.
