Reasons why Heerenveen allowed Nathan Tjoe-A-On to return to the Indonesian U-23 national team

VIVA – PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir gave good news for the U-23 Indonesian National Team. Nathan Tjoe-A-On is confirmed to return to the team for the U-23 Asian Cup quarter-final match against South Korea.

Initially, Nathan left the U-23 Indonesian National Team after the group phase because permission was given by Heerenveen only to appear in the group phase.

Now, Nathan, who is already in the Netherlands, has to return to Qatar. The reason is, the approach taken by PSSI to Heerenveen was successful.

“Good news came from the Netherlands where Heerenveen finally allowed Nathan to strengthen the national team until the remainder of the U-23 Asian Cup,” said Erick in his statement.

Eirck Thohir then said that supporters played a very important role. In fact, Erick said that supporters were one of the factors in Heerenveen’s permission to be issued so that Nathan Tjoe-A-On could return to the U-23 Indonesian National Team.

“Thank you for the support of the supporters who hoped that Nathan would be released by his club, to the point that many people stopped by in very polite comments on Heerenveen’s social media,” said Erick Thohir.

On the other hand, after giving permission to Nathan, Heerenveen received many thanks from Indonesian netizens.

“Thank you Heerenveen for giving Nathan permission to go to Qatar this past week. We wish him the best for the rest of the season,” said one.

The Indonesian national team will face South Korea in the quarter-finals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup on Thursday (24/4) or Friday (25/4) early morning WIB.
