The clash of the last two winners of the Champions League kept all its promises. Real Madrid and Manchester City separated in a goal-rich draw and will have to decide in the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League on the Citizens’ pitch.

Santiago Bernabeu, however, started the match with a cold shower. Aurélien Tchouameni received a yellow card after 37 seconds, which earned him a suspension for the return match. And, on the free kick, Bernardo Silva, finds the opening to deceive Andriy Lunin, a little at fault (1st, 0-1). Then, in a tight angle on the left in the area, Haaland tries his luck. But this time, Lunin has a firm hand (7th).

But Madrid has the Champions League in its DNA – 14 titles oblige. The team remobilizes and Carvajal gives Camavinga on the right. The French prodigy cuts back into the axis, gets rid of Grealish and strikes with the left. Ruben Dias deflects the ball slightly. Madrid midfielder’s goal or own goal? The important thing is the equalizer (12th, 1-1).

Manchester City doesn’t even have time to breathe as Rodrygo has already doubled the lead. Launched by Vinicius on the left, he overtakes everyone before adjusting Ortega, helped by a counter from Akanji (13th, 2-1).

A six-goal match

The match got off to a flying start, but the pace calmed down a little. Both teams are plugging their flaws and struggling to find opportunities among their opponents. But when it happens, everything happens very quickly: Rodri serves Kovacic in the area, who passes it to Grealish. The Englishman is in perfect control and can finish, but Tchouaméni counters at the last minute (33rd). Continuing on, a counter is organized and Vinicius crosses back for Rodrygo, who hits hard. The ball floats and narrowly misses the right corner (34th). If possession is largely Mancunian, the Madrilenians remain dangerous on the counterattack.

In the second half, Manchester City continued to push hard: if Phil Foden and Bernado Silva continued the strikes, Andriy Lupine kept watch. But ultimately, the darling of Manchester City finds the fault. Served by Stones, he sent a clear shot into the Ukrainian’s top corner (66th, 2-2).

Gvardiol drives home the point straight away, on a pass from Grealish. The Croatian defender is not pressed by the defense and has time to roll up to find the right net (72nd, 2-3).

Manchester City thinks they can hold on to their away victory, but Real are not giving up. Vinicius overflows and finds Valverde isolated who sends a rebound into the back of the net (79th, 3-3).

Don’t throw any more away. Everything remains to be done on April 17!
