Anyone who wants a season ticket in sector D of the Leipzig stadium in the future will have to pay significantly more. The price of a children’s ticket for RB home games alone increases from 91 to 235 euros. The goal: The paying spectators should come to the stadium.

There is criticism from supporters of RB Leipzig about the significant increase in season ticket prices in a block that was previously used by families. Since prices in sector D have more than doubled in some cases, an online petition was launched against the Bundesliga soccer team’s move. “As long as people in the structurally weak region of Central Germany have less in their wallets, we can perhaps compete with top teams in sports, but we should not try to do this with the income from stadium goers,” the fans association also wrote on its website.

According to the club’s own statement, fan representatives were involved in the plans at an early stage. However, they failed to “represent the fans’ interests to the committees involved regarding the price increase.” The “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” first reported on the criticism.

RB Leipzig published season ticket prices for the coming season last week. The increases remained moderate for the most part and were generally justified by the club with increased match day costs. In sector D, prices rose drastically. The full-payer price for a family of four with two children under 14 will increase from at least 844 euros to 1,520 euros. A children’s ticket alone increases from 91 to 235 euros per season. If tickets are used in at least 16 home games, half of the price increase will be credited for the 2025/26 season.

RB Leipzig wants to offer fewer season tickets

The club justified the increase in the MZ with the high no-show rate in this sector. This means that fans bought the cheap tickets in this area, but did not show up for a large number of the games. The club wants to tackle this. A minimum usage of ten games per season had already been introduced when the new prices were published. Otherwise the card will be withdrawn.

The season ticket share in the arena is currently 68 percent, which corresponds to 32,000 of the 47,000 seats. The club is aiming to reduce this proportion. At least six games must be attended this season. Returned or withdrawn season tickets will not be reassigned.
