Raúl García will hang up his boots when the season ends

Athletic Club player Raúl García, former CA Osasuna and Atlético de Madrid footballer, “will hang up his boots at the end of the season”, as reported by the Bilbao club. The Navarrese footballer will leave the red and white team “with a Cup and a Super Cup under his arm and some spectacular numbers.”

The Navarrese has accumulated incredible numbers in Spanish football, where he is third in the ranking in league games with 602 games (190 goals), only behind Andoni Zubizarreta and Joaquín (622). Raúl García has made 356 appearances in nine seasons at Athletic, to which must be added the 329 for Atlético de Madrid and the 126 for Osasuna, the club where he trained.

The footballer is celebrating his twentieth season in LaLiga. Although this season he has lost prominence, he has still played 13 matches in the regular tournament, all of them coming off the bench, and five in the Cup, two as a starter.

«For Athletic Club it is a true honor that a footballer of his enormous caliber has completed almost a decade with our colors. We are talking about a player who leaves with enormous professional and football recognition, and with the trophy case overflowing,” the statement concludes.
