Rafael Nadal wants to return to the tour in Barcelona
Will Rafael Nadal return to the tour next week? According to consistent Spanish media reports, the 24-time Grand Slam winner could start at the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona from Monday. The 37-year-old will complete his first training session in the Catalan capital on Wednesday.
Nadal, who had to cancel his participation in the 1000 event in Monte Carlo a few days ago, has recently been struggling with abdominal muscle problems. The former world number one could now celebrate his long-awaited comeback in Barcelona.
Nadal looks back on a long period of suffering
Nadal hasn’t played a match in Brisbane since the beginning of the year and looks back on a long period of suffering. The Iberian missed almost the entire 2023 season and will probably say goodbye to the tennis stage this year due to his ongoing injury problems.
Nadal’s big goal is the French Open, which he has won 14 times throughout his career. His record in Barcelona is not significantly worse: in total, he has already won the title twelve times in Spain’s second largest city.
