Rafael Nadal probably won’t be able to watch Real Madrid’s game

A real day of joy awaits Madrilenian sports aficionados on Tuesday. While two local tennis stars, Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, are fighting for a place in the quarter-finals right on their own doorstep in the Caja Magica, Real Madrid will be playing in the Champions League at Bayern Munich at 9 p.m.

This is now becoming a problem for Nadal, of all people, who is an ardent Real supporter. After his marathon game against Pedro Cachin, the round of 16 against Jiri Lehecka on Tuesday was scheduled as the last encounter at the Estadio Manolo Santana. The 37-year-old will almost certainly miss the first leg of Los Blancos’ semi-final.

Although this was a downer for Nadal, he was quite satisfied with the schedule after his exhausting match against Cachin: “Considering what happened today, I agree with this decision. If I play in the evening, I have more time to sleep and can recover tomorrow.”

“Let’s see how I wake up tomorrow,” said the Spaniard, who was recently injured for a long time, about his fitness level. “Every day I enjoy playing at home. It means everything to me. I try my best to keep dreaming.” Even if this means that Nadal misses the Champions League semi-finals of his favorite club.
