Racing Reserve Triumphs in a Thrilling Avellaneda Classic against Independiente

In a crazy match, with many swings in results, the Racing Reserve became strong at the Tita Mattiussi Premises and won the Avellaneda classic. He won it. He happened to lose it. He turned it around in the second half. And they almost tied it if it weren’t for Thiago De Bellis’ double cover in the epilogue. Finally, they won 3-2 for the seventh date of the Projection Cup. With David González as a figure, plus the presence of other youth players who came down from Primera for this match (Ramiro Degregorio and Santiago Quirós), Juan Vita’s team was left with a well-deserved victory. After going 2-1 down, the Academy reacted and got their reward. Once again, as Primera did on February 24, Racing once again triumphed in the classic. Now, with the Selectivo that is located third in the Zone A.

Agustín Urrutia’s goal in the ST, the one that made it 2-2, gave impetus to Racing, which was already looking favorably on the point due to how the development had taken place. But a little while later came David González’s right hand, from outside the area, which went into Morro’s upper left corner. A great goal with which he put the bow on a great individual performance. Because before that, he had been the most disruptive player in the Academy. He always took care of the ball, he gave it a neat destination towards the center or the left, he showed dynamism. When he faced it he always made a difference, although many times he was left alone, without a partner.

El Selectivo de Racing was able to defend its advantage achieved in the final part. He didn’t have many chances to score, but he was very effective and was saved by his goalkeeper the times he was called upon. He retreated, stood against it and maintained the distance on the scoreboard.

Racing played a very changing Avellaneda classic

In a match that seemed like a roller coaster, the start of the game for the Academy had been unbeatable. When just five minutes had passed, Ramiro Degregorio took advantage of a bad start by Echeverría (he touched badly towards the middle), made space and took a low right hand that went in next to Morro’s right post. At the first arrival, the Academy hit and it seemed that the way could be paved for them with that early advantage.

But far from managing the times and resting on that tranquility, the Vita set fell into a hole. He fell behind a few meters, it was difficult for him to progress on the field because he did not find fluidity in the circulation. The only ones who showed something different were David González and Degregorio. Ramiro Degregorio, Agustín Urrutia and David González converted. Photo: @racingclub

The Red One arrived with speed. With one or two touches, he began to win behind the midfielders. It didn’t create much danger, but Diego Tarzia did not forgive. He first made the most of a series of rebounds in the area and then, with a shot from the crescent, he put the ball against the right post of Thiago De Bellis, with a weak response down low. Independiente turned it around and Racing never reacted seriously. He did it with spasms with some attempts from the aforementioned David González, a different player due to his outlook, skill and acceleration. David was, along with Santiago Quirós and Degregorio, one of the three youth players who came down from the Primera squad for this derby.

Racing equalized early in the second half, 2′ behind ST, and that gave him confidence to put things back as they had started: up on the scoreboard. With a lot of effort, without giving up when the result was reversed, he was rewarded by never giving up. And he reached four games without defeats, with three wins and one draw.
